ARRANGEMENTS FOR SUPPORTING CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS AND DISABILITIES

On 1st September 2014, the Children and Families Act 2014 introduced a new framework for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) representing the biggest shift in SEN for 30 years

All Local Authorities are required to publish information on ‘the Local Offer’ about all SEND services, along with details of any eligibility for specialist services and a signpost to support for those who do not meet thresholds.

Listed on the Additional Educational Needs document below is a brief overview of the various additional programmes we deliver to support all learners, where appropriate. To read our SEND policy, please visit our main policies page or click on the link below.

The Local Authority (Education, Local Authority and Health) has published their revised Mainstream Core Standards document, which details the expected provision to be made available in mainstream schools for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and / or Difficulties (SEND).

Below is a link to the guidance for parents / carers which explains in detail the purpose of the Mainstream Core Standards and provides a summary of what has been shared with schools.

It explains what we can do to make sure we are doing everything we can to meet the needs of our pupils with SEND, so that they are included in all aspects of school life, make progress and are happy in school.

If you wish to discuss your child’s support programmes please do not hesitate to get in touch with your child's class teacher, Mrs Hunt the SENco or Miss Keitch the Inclusion Manager via the office email office@newington.kent.sch.uk
